A peaceful route through the region of the writer Karel Hynek Mácha leads mostly through the forest. From the parking lot in Kuřívody, you'll ride literally just a few meters across a meadow and you're in the forest. The surfaces alternate here – dirt, mud, sand, asphalt... and so on and so forth. This is simply typical for this region. It's pure relaxation – no complexities, just long stretches of forest paths. Passing two ponds – Vavrouškův and Držník – you’ll reach Hradčany, where you cross the road and continue towards the Velký Dub enclosure. You'll ride around it in a wide arc and arrive at Staré Splavy, where an impressive view of Máchovo jezero opens up. There’s an opportunity for a short break and refreshments on the dam. However, it gets quite crowded here during the season, so it might be better to ride a bit further to Doksy – right at the edge is the Port Hotel, where a sign at the entrance says "Cyclists welcome". Furthermore, we can recommend the U Strnada bistro or Hozy bistro. As soon as you leave Doksy, it's quiet again and you just enjoy the forest paths. At the very end, you just bypass the road from Bělá to Kuřívody, as it would be unnecessary to share the route with cars.
